Tour Irazú Volcano
Trip to Irazú Volcano, Costa Rica
Irazú Volcano, Basilica of Cartago & Orosi Valley in one day
On a winding path, past diversely cultivated fields, the route goes up to 3,432 m above sea level to the crater of the “Irazú” volcano, the highest volcano in Costa Rica. When the sky is clear, you have a breathtaking view of the main craters and the two oceans bordering Costa Rica: the Atlantic and the Pacific.
But don't forget to dress warmly on this trip, because despite the best weather, the wind at these altitudes can quickly make you shiver. Next, there's a stop in Costa Rica's former capital, Cartago , which is located at the foot of the volcano. Particular attention is paid to the “Basílica de la Virgen de los Àngeles”. Every year on August 2nd, thousands of believers from far away make a pilgrimage to this place to thank the Virgin Mary for her miracles and to pray.
Lankester Botanic Gardens:
over 3000 species of plants can be seen here
Another highlight is the Lankester Orchid Garden, which enchants the audience with its colorful splendor with over 800 different species of orchids and countless other plants.
The journey continues with a visit to the Orosi Valley. In the middle of the green surroundings there is one of the few well-preserved temples from colonial times. After a delicious meal in one of the nearby restaurants, we end the day in the rustic “Dreamer's House”, an example of primitivist Costa Rican art.
The day tour as a group tour starts daily from Posada Nena (We also offer the tour as a half-day tour -Irazú volcano only).
Tour is including lunch and entrance fees to the national park and orchid garden
Upon request, we also offer this tour as an individual tour for 2 people or more (with a slightly modified program).
