What to do in La Fortuna?
Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridge Park
The 16 suspension bridges that line the trails of Costa Rica's Mistico Arenal Suspension Bridge Park stretch a total of 2.6 kilometers through the rugged landscape. See the birds, monkeys, sloths, snakes and frogs that inhabit the forest canopy as you climb these spans, suspended above the gorges and stretching across the jungle floors.

La Fortuna Waterfall
La Fortuna Waterfall cascades 61 meters down the steep cliff of Cerro Chato, the dormant and densely forested twin of Arenal Volcano. Hot springs
- Chollín Springs:
For travelers on a tight budget, Chollín is the best option. Free and open to the public, this hot spring has no facilities: the access road is in bad condition, there are no lockers or showers, and the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. Although Chollín does not offer the same comfort as other spas, it has the advantage of being 100% natural. Here, the waterfalls and rivers were not designed by man but by nature itself. The atmosphere of Chollín is also more authentic because these hot springs are mainly frequented by locals. Costa Rican families gather here to bathe and enjoy the place over a picnic. Since Chollín is not a safe place, I would advise you not to leave your personal belongings unattended.
Info and tickets: Free access, open every day 24 hours a day.
- Baldi Springs:
Baldi is a large and very festive spa. It has many attractions, 25 hot pools and you can even drink your cocktail from one of the floating bars. While Baldi's entertainment mainly attracts groups of friends, families also love this place. The managers of the establishment have thought of the little ones by designing a space dedicated to children. Your children will be delighted to slide down the small slides and have fun in the shallow pools.
Info and tickets : 40 US$ for adults / 20 US$ for children. Opening hours: daily from 9am to 10pm.
The Ecotermales springs:
Ecotermales is very popular with ecotourism enthusiasts because the spa allows you to spend a relaxing day in an exceptional natural setting. Built in total harmony with nature, there is a peaceful and serene atmosphere. In the heart of the rainforest, the various hot springs have been designed with respect for the environment. You will have the pleasure of relaxing with a breathtaking view of the Arenal volcano while listening to the singing of the birds and the sound of the wind in the trees. Ecotermales also has fresh water pools and a waterfall that will offer you a very relaxing hydromassage. There is also a bar and a restaurant where you can enjoy typical Costa Rican dishes. To guarantee the serenity of the place, the capacity of the establishment is limited to 100 people per day: think of reserving the day before for the following day.
Info and tickets : 40 US$ for adults / 26 US$ for children. Opening hours: every day from 9am to 9:30pm.
Tabacon Springs:
Tabacon may be the most expensive spa in the Arenal area, but it is also the one that offers the best service. This establishment offers a perfect balance between nature and relaxation in a luxurious and upscale environment. Tabacon has several hot water baths, a cold water pool, a floating bar and a thermal slide. In the spa, you can enjoy personalized treatments according to your needs and an outdoor balneotherapy. In the restaurant, the Tabacon has brought together renowned chefs to offer you a gastronomic menu with local products. Refined and tasty, the dishes will satisfy the taste buds of gourmet travelers.
Info and tickets : 90 US$ for adults / 45 US$ for children. Opening hours: daily from 10am to 10pm.
